    The “Message” is Still Relevant
In today’s economy and social awkwardness….at times I think back to “The Message”, the song that @DjFlash4eva “Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five” delivered to the streets in 1982 which went on to be a platinum selling album. The song didn’t remain in the streets…it ended up going global. @therealmellemel (Melle Mel) along with Grandmaster Flash, Kid Creole, Mr. Ness, Cowboy, and Raheim make up the group. Please CLICK PHOTO to see a few honorary members of “The Furious Five” rockin’ out at the #Grammy Nominations Party, those members being— @LupeFiasco, @Common, @LLCoolJ, along with the originals—Grandmaster Flash and Melle Mel.

    Common’s “Sweet” video
@Common takes us into #Haiti with an edgy look into his new single “sweet.” Doesn’t look like Common came to play games or serenade the ladies with this piece!  It looks more like he’s going after a few emcees, kinda reminiscent of the “dis” song he made when “beefing” with former #NWA rapper #Ice Cube, with “I see the b*tch in you.” Luckily all of that’s been resolved, so please CLICK THE PIC for Common’s latest video….”Sweet.”

    Illmatic Meets Finding Forever
Something I’m sure a lot of true Hip Hop heads may be looking forward to is the fact that @Nas and @Common are planning to get together to record a joint project, which if you look at both of their discographies, is a very big deal. “Chi-Towns Nas” linking up with NYCs “Nas” is going to propel hip hops lyrical content backwards, but in a good way. These two heavyweights in the game are known for their creative lyrics with the use of metaphors, similes, mnemonics, acronyms, double entendres….you name it…they dish it out, which was what hip hop was known for in the early to mid ’90s…creative lyrics. Common has recently made it known that he is no longer signed to Kanye’s G.O.O.D. label, but says that he’ll always be apart of the G.O.O.D. family, so the two Chicago emcees are still on good terms. Back to the collab….the Common, Nas joint album may be as big a union as “Watch The Throne” was with @Kanywest and @S_C_ (Jay-Z). Both lyricists are currently working on their solo projects, Common with “The Dreamer, The Believer” and Nas with “Nasty”.  So “me”, as a fan—is definitely looking forward to both solo joints and really can’t wait to see these guys in action when they’re both touring for their collab album since both of them collectively add over 20 years of experience in music. Please CLICK PIC for video of Nas and Common in studio behind the scenes of “Ghetto Dreams”, the first single off of Commons upcoming release.
