Classics in Hip Hop Mix Classical and Hip Hop
@Nas and @REALDJPREMIER team up for the “Re-Generation”.  DJ Premier goes from being a DJ to a Composer, but many would conclude that they’re both one in the same. “Primo” steps from behind the turntables and in front of the “Berklee Symphony Orchestra” to compose the “Re-Generation” featuring Nas. The mix between classical music and hip hop was bound to happen at some point.  @KanyeWest uses orchestral sounds in many of his songs, for example “All of the Lights” and “Diamonds are Forever”.  The Re-Generation Project is where this collaboration will be featured on, please visit http://www.regenerationmusicproject.com/ for more info. Also CLICK PIC for video of “Re-Generation” with DJ Premier, Nas and the Berklee Symphony Orchestra. View high resolution

    Illmatic Meets Finding Forever
Something I’m sure a lot of true Hip Hop heads may be looking forward to is the fact that @Nas and @Common are planning to get together to record a joint project, which if you look at both of their discographies, is a very big deal. “Chi-Towns Nas” linking up with NYCs “Nas” is going to propel hip hops lyrical content backwards, but in a good way. These two heavyweights in the game are known for their creative lyrics with the use of metaphors, similes, mnemonics, acronyms, double entendres….you name it…they dish it out, which was what hip hop was known for in the early to mid ’90s…creative lyrics. Common has recently made it known that he is no longer signed to Kanye’s G.O.O.D. label, but says that he’ll always be apart of the G.O.O.D. family, so the two Chicago emcees are still on good terms. Back to the collab….the Common, Nas joint album may be as big a union as “Watch The Throne” was with @Kanywest and @S_C_ (Jay-Z). Both lyricists are currently working on their solo projects, Common with “The Dreamer, The Believer” and Nas with “Nasty”.  So “me”, as a fan—is definitely looking forward to both solo joints and really can’t wait to see these guys in action when they’re both touring for their collab album since both of them collectively add over 20 years of experience in music. Please CLICK PIC for video of Nas and Common in studio behind the scenes of “Ghetto Dreams”, the first single off of Commons upcoming release. Amy Winehouse ft. Nas “Like Smoke”
“Like Smoke” will be the lead single off of the posthumous, soon to be released, #AmyWinehouse album entitled “Lioness: Hidden Treasures.” The song features Queensbridge native lyricist…@Nas and was actually recorded in 2008 but will be released along with 11 other recordings from Winehouse when her album drops this Dec. 5th. The song itself is in line with “classic” Amy Winehouse, from the mood and feel of the song, to the story being told, and Nas adds unscripted flare with his delivery and wordplay. Please CLICK PIC for the “Unofficial” video of “Like Smoke.” View high resolution

Name a Rapper Nas Ain’t Influenced

(From XXL Magazine)
@Nas didn’t become one of hip-hop’s most influential figures by design. Though he claims to have known that his introductory verse on Main Source’s “Live At the Barbecue” would invent shock rap back in 1991, the Queensbridge lyricist’s moves have since come off as instinctive, rather than calculated. Nasty Nas’s seminal 1994 debut, Illmatic, alone, birthed several trends—from the cover art picturing a younger Nas to its effect on the landscape of hip-hop production. By the time he celebrated 10 years in the game on 2001′s Stillmatic, God’s Son was fully aware of his impact. “Name a rapper I ain’t influenced,” he rhymed on the first verse of “Ether”—his scathing response to Jay-Z’s “Takeover.” Indeed. Nas’s DNA can be found in an innumerable amount of MCs that have come out in the last 20 years. CLICK THE PIC to hear Nas and Lauryn Hill tell us what they would do if they ruled the world. Speaking of Nas….the Queensbridge EMCEE is looking to drop his next LP tentatively titled “Life is Good”, although he says:

“A lot of people around me didn’t understand where I was coming from. They kinda thought I was saying, ‘Let’s pop bottles, we’re rich, everything’s good.’ That’s not where I was coming from,” he said. “So there’s another title that came, that kind of fits a little better, and you might hear about that. There might be a change coming real soon.”

Nas is looking at a September release, and “Nasty” is his first offering off the album!
