Just Win, Baby! Sadly, Al Davis, team owner of the Oakland Raiders, passed away this morning. He was an enigmatic owner, who’s by any means necessary mentality often times beat opponents before the ball was even snapped. Off the football field his anti-establishment mentality propelled the Raider brand to the forefront of Hip-Hop culture with the help from N.W.A. Watch any old N.W.A. video and you are inevitably going to see the Raider logo at some point. NWA helped make the silver and black culturally significant to a new generation and demographic. Still a die-hard Raiders fan, in the video Ice Cube explored the unlikely marriage between the NFL’s rebel franchise and America’s glamour city and showed how pro football’s outlaw team became the toast of La La Land and Hip-Hop.
