Colours in Culture: an #infographic via @visually
In America, Red is often associated with passion, emotion, and anger. But in China, it’s often associated with fortune & good luck (check out pictures of the Lunar New Year). Check out this beautiful infographic to learn more, distributed by our friend over at @visually & authored by Information Is Beautiful. Just click the picture to see the full hi-res version. @Foursquare Checkins Reveal Holiday Travel Patterns
Shout out to our friends over at Foursquare for putting together impressive visualization. It reminds me of those flight pattern maps from airport controllers, the cool thing is that this set of data was entirely crowd-sourced. Fastest Growing Jobs of the Next Decade
Turns out aging boomers are creating a boom in healthcare just as we see many old-school jobs in manufacturing and service being phased out. Props to our friends over at @Zaarly for putting this together, interesting indeed and potentially helpful if you are plotting out a career change (or just secretly thinking of one). What if Solar Got the Same Subsidies as Fossil Fuels?
Great info-graphic by our friends over at @1BOG. Just goes to show that the game is ‘rigged’ (bad pun, sorry). The case of Germany demonstrates that progressive energy policies could level the playling field for emerging solar technologies, helping America to take the lead in an emerging and competitive global market as well as to transition towards more a sustainable 21st century energy infrastructure.  View high resolution

#Infographic of the Day: Where should you live to avoid natural disasters?
After Hurricane Irene and the earth quake in Virginia many of our many readers may be wondering where the best spot is in America to avoid these and other related plagues. A recent study by Sperling’s Best Places, a publisher of city rankings, is an attempt to assess a combination of geophysical, weather-related, and strorm-related risks in 379 American metro areas. According to the folks over at Sperling, Corvallis, Oregon is the least disaster-prone city in the country and Dallas, TX is the most dangerous. Comes as somewhat of a surprise to us too but we are glad to see that the West Coast is less dangerous than conventional wisdom would have you believe! How does your hometown rank?
