    Ohm attends @AngelHack @Adobe

Ever heard of a hackathon before? If you’ve seen The Social Network, it’s kind of like that one scene where they have the engineers competing head to head around a table. The real deal is kind of like that, except without the shots, and it goes a whole lot longer. This last weekend two of our co-founders & engineers, Cam (@camwes) & Chris (@cbennett10), had the privilege of attending the west-coast version of AngelHack, a 30-hour long event hosted for the first time this year at Adobe’s beautiful headquarters in the SoMa area of San Francisco.

Although our team did not officially compete for the grand prize or API prizes, they did made huge headway on building a new web app that will add a lot of value to our upcoming iOS & Android apps. We also met a lot of other brilliant designers & engineers.  Attached you can find a few photos from the weekend event, photo credits go out to Cameron.

Our apps will go live in the marketplace(s) in just a few short weeks, but please feel free to join our beta list if you want to shorten your wait and give them a test run before any one else does: http://beta.ohmmusic.com

These 45 most powerful photos of 2011 will move and inspire you.
They really put in perspective what a crazy year it has been. It really does have the feeling of a precursor to the end of the world, with the natural disasters, riots, protests, and all. After such a tumultuous decade it appears that people around the world are fed up with the way things have been and are seeking dramatic changes. With this change comes a lot of pain and chaos, but I’ll be staying optimistic that the events of the past year all happened for the better. Either that or the Mayans were right and we’re heading towards Apocalypse. Either way, I’m stoked for 2012 View high resolution

Believe it or not, these amazing photos were taken by Google Street View. Yet another reason Google is one of my favorite companies and the internet is awesome.

    Magnum at the Movies

@NewYorker recently published a classy photo slide show of some of best work of the Magnum photographers, a small group who gained personal rapport with some of the biggest stars of America’s cinema golden age. They feature heart-throbs Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, and James Dean. The exhibition is currently showing off halfway around the world in Turin,  Italy but thanks to the internets you can enjoy a sample from the comfort of your couch. Enjoy!

With the popularity of Tumblr growing at an exponential rate the Internet has seen a revival of the gif image. While a very limited file format (in terms of quality) the ability to create moving images has got a lot of photographers experimenting with motion photography: Time-lapse, stop-motion and thanks to two amazing photographers we now have the cinemagraph. Click the picture above to read more about this duo, or check out their site here. I first noticed their work on a site for Gilt that I suggest you check out!

Rest in peace to one of the most talented men to ever live. The world will forever wonder what amazing heights he would have taken his career and the rap game.
life:

Tupac Shakur died 15 years ago today — he died at the age of 25 in a September 1996 drive-by shooting in Las Vegas. He had been wounded five times in a similar shooting in 1994.
Sadly, Tupac is one of many Talented Musicians Who Died Before 30.

There is a BK Circus feet from my home on the corner of Fillmore & O’Farrell St. I am always lured into this place by the music that they play inside and outside of the small store. They’re website self-proclaims “A Shopping Experience Like No Other”, and I am compelled to agree. I chat up the guy who works there about “Watch the Throne” as N***gz in Paris plays on the system. We agree that the production on the album is ridiculous and it will take time to truly appreciate it. I try on one of there many awesome cardigans, but ultimately decide that I will wait some days when the fall line drops, as I was promised it would be dope.

I went to their amazing block party at which I got some pretty good footage that I’ll share with you guys sometime soon. This shop is literally just the best at everything. Every little detail from the best business cards I’ve seen to the best clothing website on the internet, which is a beauty in responsiveness and creative design. The vintage feel to the shop combined with the modern ear and style, this shop is an escape.

Follow their blog, hit them up on twitter @TheBKCricus this is an all around dope company.
